Restored

But Aaron and his sons made offerings on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense doing all the work of the most holy place, to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.                  1 Chron. 6.49

Aaron and his sons were entrusted with the work of the most holy place. They, reverently, were the ones to “connect” with God. And, subject to human interpretation and guidance, this order continued down through the ages.

Then Christ gave Himself into the most holy place. By his sovereign and supreme sacrifice He opened the way for us all to experience intimate contact with God.

Aaron and his sons were intermediaries, go-betweens, from God to humans, and vice versa. Jesus eliminated the need for go-betweens. He allows us direct access into that most holy place of connection and relation with God. Hallelujah!

Another aspect of this Scripture is that Aaron and his sons made atonement for Israel. They were agents on behalf of all the people. Now, whilst I may be able to intercede on behalf of others, I believe there is nothing to equal personal atonement. I will place myself before God and seek His forgiveness and release from my sins. Others may pray for me and with me, but my own willingness to come before God speaks more clearly for me.

So, first, I can come into this most holy place. Secondly, I can speak to God for myself. This is an enormous privilege, and I can thank Jesus for this gift, and for His sacrifice for me.

Lord God,

I am humbled by my Lord Jesus’ sacrifice on my behalf. I thank You. I humbly come into Your presence. I repent of all that I do that displeases You. I ask for Your forgiveness. Release me, Lord, to go forward with You, in Jesus’ name I ask.                       Amen.
